For those interested in finding an inexpensive place to retire By Mike Jansen For any who wish to Live on less money in retirement or just want to emigrate out of the first world for whatever reason i can point you in the right direction. Many informational groups can be found on just about any subject on yahoo groups. I myself will be emigrating to the Philippines this fall (nov 09). A person can live very inexpensively in the Philippines, depending on what standard of living you are willing to accept. If you insist on acting like you are still in the west i would suggest very strongly that you stay in the first world. If however you are open to a different culture that has been there since before America was ever "discovered" and are willing to live more like Philippino's then you will be able to live very cheaply. It is a tropical area so if hot weather is not your thing its not a good place to go. The people are very kind and non-judgmental. I know with the type of lifestyle i am happy with i could live on 500 or less a month ... in a small town, slightly rural area. I will emigrate and run my business from a lap top while on a beach, while drinking a beer. There are many advantages to leaving your home country, at least in America there are tax advantages. You have a decent amount of money you can make abroad before you are expected to pay taxes. I wont quote the exact amount as im not a tax professional, however i think the number is somewhere around or above 90k a year. One less headache to deal with. If you have never left the first world i would highly suggest you do so if possible. It will open your eyes to how well we have it. Peace.
